Goals
I bet you’re here because there’s something in life you’d like to be different, whether that’s your mood, day-to-day effectiveness, or something else entirely. Below are some common goals I help facilitate.
Cognitive Rehabilitation
Sample Goals
Improve memory
Follow conversation more easily
Ease irritability or mood swings
Following traumatic brain injury or stroke, mood and thinking abilities can be compromised. Main goals of therapy include improving thinking skills, such as memory, attention, or organization, as well as emotional well-being. Learn helpful techniques through CogSMART, an evidenced-based program developed and researched by the Veteran’s Association to treat persistent cognitive symptoms resulting from mild brain injuries.
Aging, Chronic Illness, & Neurodegenerative Disease
Sample Goals
Assess severity cognitive changes
Improve Attention
Stay engaged socially
It’s never too late to learn skills and habits that keep you engaged and enjoying life. Some individuals experience more rapid changes, seen in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease. Other conditions can impact thinking abilities. These often require assessment to inform a effective care plan.
Caregiving
Sample Goals
Improve sleep
Feel more organized
Learn to delegate
Establish support system
Whether temporary or longterm, the act of caregiving comes with its own hurdles and valleys to navigate. The emotional and cognitive functioning of caregivers has been shown to be impacted by caregiving. During group or individual sessions, we train together on how to simplify, organize, and delegate, so you never feel like you’re caring alone.
